Countryside Careers Evening 23rd May 2024

Following the huge success of the first event in 2023, Driffield Agricultural Society's Countryside Careers Evening will return to Driffield Showground on Thursday 23rd May 2024. It will take place between the hours of 4pm and 8pm, and a FREE shuttle bus service will run between Driffield Station and the showground.

The evening is FREE to attend and open to secondary school students (accompanied and unaccompanied) and electively home educated families, and anyone else, of any age, interested in changing or starting a career in the countryside. Businesses from across the region will be in attendance to promote their career opportunities. All businesses are either based in the countryside directly or provide services to businesses that are.

In attendance will be over 50 local, national and international companies covering professional skills (Legal and Accountancy), Engineering and Agri Engineering, Agriculture (Livestock and Arable Farming), Food Production, Sustainability and IT. There will also be information on how to move on to Further Education opportunities, apprenticeships and careers.

This event has been designed to give an invaluable insight into the opportunities for employment in the setting of rural East Yorkshire. Secondary school students and their families from across Hull and the East Riding are encouraged to attend.

To watch a video about the event, please visit the Driffield Showground website.

Careers Introduction

All students follow a specific bespoke careers plan during the identified transition period. Each student has a clear plan on entering the sixth form working towards an appropriate transition placement working with parents/carers and external agencies.

Students visit a range of providers often attending taster days and are encouraged to give their own feedback and make their own choices.

An employability curriculum including CV writing and work placements are linked into the transition process providing students with a recognised qualification.

Employers/Businesses
We welcome any and all employers and businesses to come visit us here at St. Anne's and Sixth Form College. We have students with a range of skills and abilities that businesses would more than welcome!
